Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less
I’m personally outraged by the high cost of fuel lately. Largely because it doesn’t have to be that way. More than the price of fuel, I’m outraged at the complacent lackluster shrugging of shoulders from my fellow Americans.
Folks, you better wake up… if $4/gallon doesn’t do it for you, you might as well hand the keys to the country over to our enemies and their socialist friends in Europe. I once worked for an English chap who seemed to mockingly suggest that America has had it “too good for too long” because the English, and most of Eurpoe, like fools, paid $7/gallon. He seemed to intimate that we were getting our “just deserts”. What I can’t understand is Americans who passively think the same thing.
Compact Fluorescent Bulbs by 2012 - or Else!
If you haven’t heard, President Bush signed a new energy bill into law. FiveCentNickel has a pretty good summary here (although a bit critical).
The biggest change is that traditional incandescent bulbs will be outlawed, starting with 100 watt bulbs by 2010.
If you recall, I announced that I would switch my entire home to compact fluorescent bulbs (CFL’s) in February of 2007. As of now, I’ve had all CFL’s for about 10 months. I have not replaced a single bulb since then. I used to replace at least one incandescent bulb per month.
Change a Bulb. Change Everything.
I recently discovered a new Yahoo site called “18 Seconds.Org“, but it is probably easier to get there by going to http://green.yahoo.com. The site is designed to encourage people to switch their incandescent bulbs compact fluorescent bulbs to save energy and money.
Thanks to Paul Stamatiou for pointing this out. As a right-wing conservative, you might already think I’m betraying the cause by pointing this out, but I don’t think so. Here’s why.
Some thoughts on grief
I’m sort of exhausted again after another day of bizarre sleep patterns. My mother-in-law, who has experienced the death of her first child as a stillborn, and the death of her husband about ten years ago, told me today that “grief is exhausting”. I couldn’t agree more. I’m constantly exhausted, feeling like doing nothing, but yet, I can’t sleep. The night before Obadiah’s funeral, I only got two hours of sleep. I later fell asleep for about 90 minutes - just out of sheer exhaustion at about 4 in the afternoon. You’d think I’d come home and crash. No. I only got about four hours of sleep last night.
